Fumes From Maumee Fertilizer Fire Prompt Evacuation

About 1,000 Maumee residents were evacuated overnight due to fumes from a fertilizer storage tank fire at The Anderson's. Officials said fumes were not lethal, 28 people sought treatment for minor eye and throat irritation, and the Red Cross operated a shelter for up to 2,000. Damage was estimated at $200,000 as firefighters contained the blaze likely caused by an electrical malfunction.
