City Strikers Reach Agreement on Two Year Contract
The City and Local 856 AFL CIO halted a dispute over pay negotiating a two year contract. Money was the main issue with a 38 cent hourly raise in 1970 and 9 cents in 1971 plus a paid holiday for all city employees and extra holiday for six day workers. The pact also removes a costly cost of living clause and tightens the grievance process.
