U S Plans Resume Limited North Vietnam Attacks
U S Command disclosed that American planes attacked antiaircraft weapons in North Vietnam after repeated fire since the halt in bombing 15 months ago. A SAM launcher 12 miles inside North Vietnam fired on a recon aircraft and escort, prompting routine fighter-bomber returns. One escorting F105 was shot down by ground fire, and a U S rescue helicopter was downed by a MiG during搜 search for two F105 crewmen. The command noted no bombing over North Vietnam since Nov 1 1968 except an inadvertent bomb release months earlier.
