End Sweep clears Vietnamese harbors in Gulf action

Twenty five ships steamed into the Gulf of Tonkin on Operation End Sweep to clear U S mines from North Vietnam s harbors and rivers. North Vietnamese and Viet Cong officers were en route from Paris and Hanoi to Saigon for the first meeting Monday of the four party Join Military Commission joining the United States and South Vietnam in a peacekeeping role.

First List of POWs Released by Pentagon

Truce Marked by Drizzle at Local Vietnam War End

About 100 people gathered in drizzle in front of American Legion Post 218 on S Main Street to observe the South Vietnam truce ending. Aerial bombs fired at 7 p.m. and Taps played as bells rang, with the flag raised and lowered at half mast for the deaths of Truman and Johnson.
