Butler County deputy injured in 2 car crash

Butler County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Thomas Mann, 24, of Hamilton, suffered a broken nose and sprained arm when his vehicle collided with another at 5 28 yesterday afternoon. A second man was seriously injured in the crash with details sparse.

A vehicle driven by Mann collided with a car driven by Jerry G Turner 29 5184 Augspurger Road as Turner turned in front of Mann on Augspurger Road north of Hamilton. Middlemen Drive Higher Food Costs in 1973

New Agriculture Department figures show farm prices raised the yearly average of a market basket to 1537 dollars, up 17.2 percent from 1972. The farm value averaged 689 dollars, rising 32.2 percent, while the middleman spread reached 848 dollars, up 7.5 percent. In December the annualized basket was 1650 dollars with farm share 710 and middleman 940, as farm prices fell and middlemen gained share.

Krogh Sentenced to Six Months for Ellsberg Doctor Break-in

Egil Krogh Jr. receives a six month prison term for conspiring in the unlawful search of Dr. Lewis Fielding, Ellsberg’s psychiatrist, as part of the Watergate related Plumbers unit. He says he had no orders from Nixon and cannot implicate the President. Ehrlichman, Young, and Liddy face trial in April on related charges.

Ohio AG probes Trenton circus ticket solicitations

The Ohio attorney general’s office opened an inquiry into Middletown based phone campaigns selling children’s donation tickets for the Hobrothers Circus in Trenton. Records show $13,877.50 pledged and $5,486.50 collected through Jan. 17, with tickets pledged to send seven children per donor.
