Pei Designs Kennedy Memorial With Architect’s Discovery
In a Madison Avenue office architect I M Pei sets out to learn who John F Kennedy was. He will design the Kennedy Memorial Library in Boston and aims to capture Kennedy's essence in stone and concrete. Pei compares his evolving view to his own design language. He rose quickly after WWII and founded his firm in 1955. His works include the MIT Earth Sciences Center and Idlewild Airport's 1960 terminal competition winner.
