A Cleveland dairy worker, Trennon J. Joiner, will bring his son Geoffrey from Sidney Australia to live with him. Geoffrey, five, has been in Dalwood home for children since February 1947 after his Australian birth mother surrendered her claim. Police Head Changes Rule On Affidavits
Detroit Police Commissioner Harry S. Toy restricted loyalty oath requirements for newsmen while exempting Detroit’s three large daily papers from non Communist affidavits for police press cards. Wire services and smaller papers remain affected. AP and UP officials criticized the differential treatment, noting they must cover Detroit news with cards or without. Toy said the oath was for national defense and that he trusted the major editors but not the smaller outlets.
