Barge of oil beached on Whidbey Island north of Seattle
A barge carrying about one million gallons of heavy diesel fuel ran aground on a sandy beach on Whidbey Island. The Coast Guard reported the barge upright with no damage and no confirmed oil leaks. The tug Relief, towing the barge, sang in 50 to 60 knot winds and 8 to 10 foot seas before a helicopter rescued seven crewmen.
