Boy hero saves girl from death by speeding car tragedy

In Los Angeles a 17 year old boy, David Brimley, pushed his girlfriend Paulette Lewis to safety as a car ran a red light and crashed into a pole. He was killed, his mother recalls he had just started college and a part time job. The car’s owner, Raymond Garcia, described fleeing the scene as police investigated.

Influenza like illness spreads from the East to the Middle West with respiratory cases reported nationwide. New York City reports an Asian flu epidemic but not as severe as in 1957. Wet and Foggy Weather Grips Southeast US

The Associated Press reports widespread wet and foggy conditions across many regions. A low pressure system moved from northwest Florida to the northeast triggering rain and thunderstorms in the Gulf states, with sleet in northern Georgia and Alabama and a mix of sleet and snow in Tennessee. Memphis and Chattanooga saw rain and snow, while Nashville recorded snow.

Firefighters use snowballs to battle house fire
