Early epidurals do not raise cesarean risk study says
A New England Journal of Medicine study finds low dose epidurals given early in labor do not increase cesarean rates or prolong labor. Lead author Dr. Cynthia Wong of Northwestern urges obstetricians to offer early epidurals when requested, potentially expanding use for first-time mothers. Epidurals are delivered via a small tube near spinal nerves, reducing pain without forcing delivery methods.
