Bloomfield Adopts Individually Guided Education System
Bloomfield Elementary will join nine southwestern schools in adopting the Individually Guided Education System or IGE. The program, sponsored by Miami University's Department of Teacher Education, uses team teaching, multi age grouping, non gradedness and continuous progress to tailor instruction to each student. Bloomfield teachers voted 27 to 1 in favor, with implementation to begin reading and math instruction next year. kindergarten and special education excluded. The initiative aims to create unit based teaching with dedicated leaders and summer study opportunities.
