Paris dispatch says Phan Van Dong states Viet Cong allies rejected President Nixon’s eight point plan. It is unclear if North Vietnam also rejected the proposal.
American fighter bombers destroyed a Soviet made SAM 2 missile transporter and three antiaircraft guns along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. In ground fighting the allied command reported 125 North Vietnamese troops killed and 66 enemy deaths in ambushes. The U S plane dodged two SAM missiles after the attack. The Viet Cong condemned the Vietnamization policy and demanded Thieu resign with a timeline for U S troop withdrawal.
Forecast calls for a low near 15 tonight warming to around 40 by daybreak tomorrow. A 40 percent chance of precipitation includes snow possibly mixed with rain in the outlook for tomorrow.

Washington reports that the NHTSA plans to require overhead periscopes in all new cars, providing a wider 60 to 80 degree rear view.
