In Lyon France thieves who stole Josette Gashot’s car sent a telegram promising its return. She recovered the auto 16 days later festooned with white tulle and ribbons, leading her to suspect it was used for a honeymoon celebration.
Fannie Flagg rose to prominence after appearing as the zingy secretary in The Dick Van Dyke Show spinoff and later returned to Arizona for next season’s production. Her path began with Miss Alabama preliminaries, a stint on Candid Camera, and a chance meeting with Byron Paul that led to her TV break.
Channel listings show NCAA Football Colorado versus Houston in the Astro Bluebonnet Bowl with pregame specials. Other programs include the Orange Bowl Parade, The Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Room 222, Down to the Sea in Ships, The Odd Couple, Love American Style, The Great Lover with Bob Hope, and The Geisha Boy with Jerry Lewis.
January 1 schedule lists parades and football bowls with network channels. Coral Gables and Pasadena parades launch events at 10 am, followed by Tournament of Roses Parade at 11:30. Sugar Bowl Oklahoma vs Auburn at noon, Cotton Bowl Penn State vs Texas at 1 45, Rose Bowl Michigan vs Stanford at 4 45.
Home photographers are advised to shoot the Rose Parade from a television screen using 120 ASA color film, close focus, and a No 1 close up lens if needed. Keep shutter speeds around 1 30 to 1 15 second, tripod support for slower speeds, meter close to the screen, and aim to balance light and dark in the TV image.
The guide explains lowering shutter speed to increase exposure with nonadjustable cameras and suggests turning up brightness and contrast on the TV without sacrificing highlight detail to stabilize image clarity.
The guide urges photographers to use egg like engage closeups of Rose Parade participants. To offset slow shutter speeds, keep the TV room darkened and avoid flash to prevent washout.
