Woodland Wins Over Housing Development
The Greater Cincinnati Tree Council, begun in the 1950s by wildflower lovers, spent 55,000 to purchase 22 acres of virgin woodland in Cincinnati to block a housing project. Chairman Robert L. Carson said the group aims to save trees, buy land, and donate buffer areas to the Cincinnati Park Board. The effort, supported by major firms and schools, included student fundraisers and donations, with the wooded tract near Northside Woods and minutes from Victory Parkway cited.
