Young Mexican agents crack drug trade network gains
In Mexico City AP reports a youthful narcotics squad has seized 1.2 million dollars worth of cocaine and heroin and 563 tons of marijuana in nine months after a presidential change. About 5,022 arrests, 80 percent of heroin supply to the United States now comes from Mexico, aided by U S advisory support including planes, radios, and equipment. The force, nicknamed the untouchables, faces risk with 22 agents killed as they press operations against poppy fields and drug bases.

Christmas Eve Fire Kills 2 Adults and 10 Children in Chicago
In Chicago a Christmas Eve party for 11 year old Jesus Garcia ended in tragedy as a three story brick building burned. Lighter fluid on coals caused ignition and an attempt to move the burning can led to rapid spread trapping residents. Eight children and two adults died, including Otillia Garcia and Juanita Garcia. Jesus survived with his brother and father.
