A Covington plaque honors policeman Tommy Harris born 1883 died 1926. It notes he protected Fifth and Scott streets from 1912 until his death and is marked by a December wreath placed on the plaque each year.
United Airlines expects 80 to 100 percent capacity today after a 16 day strike but reports a surplus of vacant seats. The carrier ran at 36 percent Monday with flights from most cities, Hawaii flights restored, and cautions passengers with pre strike bookings to reconfirm.

A 35-foot woodframe tree structure collapsed during a Bethel Assembly of God Christmas performance in Wichita. Stanley D. Bistline, 42, died of internal injuries, 33 others injured, and Harold Fechter of Wichita remained in serious condition. Spectators witnessed the tree fall as choir members bowed to applause near a Nativity scene with live animals.
Parma Ohio AP Parma High School students won board approval to run a lottery through January 18 to raise 24000 for debts from a rock concert last summer. The plan faces legal doubts from the district and Ohio officials who say most lotteries are illegal.
