Miners Allow Coal Delivery to Southeast Ohio School

Seventy-four? Actually 170 pupils at Harrisonville Elementary avoided an unscheduled vacation when 14 tons of coal were delivered by an independent hauler amid county mine strikes. Principal Greg McCall said the supply should last until February if weather. The move came with support from UMW Local 1886 president Gene Osler and other locals.

Miners Mass in Ohio Prepare Visit to Kentucky Non Union Mines

More than a hundred striking coal miners gathered along U S 7 near Chesapeake Ohio heading to eastern Kentucky. They expect to stay as long as needed and bring sleeping gear and food. In a prior action they forced non union trucks to unload and halted docks on the Big Sandy River amid heavy state police presence.

A winter storm watch is in effect for the Middletown area with snow possibly mixed with sleet and a low in the mid 20s. Snow and wind are forecast for Wednesday with a high in the lower 30s, followed by a chance of snow Thursday and Friday and clearing skies Saturday as temperatures range from upper 20s to low 30s with lows in the low 20s.

An earthquake 430 miles south of Tehran killed about 300 people and injured at least 500 as freezing conditions hampered survivors. The tremor struck at 3 36 a m local time near Kooh Khanook with villages Babtangal Gisk and Sarasiyah Bagh destroyed.
