A Northwest Orient 747 taking off from Miami International Airport sucked birds into an engine, forcing an emergency landing. The jet with 160 aboard landed on a rain slick runway, skidded off, and hit a concrete culvert, collapsing the nose gear. All passengers and crew, 160 people, evacuated. four injured slightly. Captain William Burnett announced the issue over the intercom.
