Farm Machinery Demand Seen Soft Amid Strike Ties
Government analysts predict weak demand for farm machinery next year due to a strike by American Agriculture. For eight months in 1977 tractor sales fell 3.5 percent, with four wheel drive units down 24 percent as dealers face pressure to move stock and offer better terms. Prices for other farm materials likely rise slowly amid reduced income and grain stockpiles.
