Court Hope Hinges on Tax Hike Ruling in Butler County
Butler County auditor R H Smith faces a 17 percent real estate value hike after the State Board of Tax Appeals refused to modify its edict. Smith’s suit in Franklin County Common Pleas Court challenges the board’s order to revalue property to 50 percent of market price from 1946 to 1949. He may take the case to the Ohio Supreme Court if needed. The board already approved 1952 abstracts for 60 counties as it standardizes assessment methods in Ohio’s 88 counties.
