New Trial Hearing Set for Richard L. Stevens
A new trial motion for Richard L. Stevens, convicted of second degree murder in the May 13 Middletown shooting death of James E. McGee, is scheduled for September 4 at 2 p.m. before Judge Fred B. Cramer. Stevens, 22, of Dayton, was sentenced to life. attorney Carl Morgenstern filed the motion citing insufficient evidence and trial errors. He is at Chillicothe Correctional Institution and may attend the hearing. no bond was set.

Nine motorists fined in municipal traffic court
Judge J T Lamb presided as nine drivers were fined fifty dollars each for careless driving in the city court. Among those found guilty were Douglas Creech James A Shaw Howard R Kash Charles D Combs and Ricky Gene Blanton. Two men admitted guilt for failing to report accidents.

Oxford resident Phil DeAngelo at 302 South Main pleaded guilty before Butler County Common Pleas Judge Robert Marrs to a charge of possession of an hallucinogen for sale. He was previously convicted of selling hashish to a federal agent and faces sentencing on the state charge September 21 at 9 a.m.
