The U S Court of Appeals reversed the treason conviction and life sentence of former Army Staff Sgt. John David Provoo. It ruled he should not have been tried in New York and barred cross examination on a collateral issue of homosexuality. Provoo, a former San Francisco bank clerk, was accused of aiding the Japanese after Corregidor’s fall and of broadcasting for them and harming a prisoner with derogatory reports.
