Needled Slaughter Allegation After Ohio Pen Siege
Ohio representative C J McLin accused police and National Guardsmen of a needless slaughter during the 29 hour Ohio Penitentiary rebellion while prison officials moved to restore order. He urged a full investigation by Gov Rhodes and a federal review of the prison system. Officials rejected the charge noting the operation saved hostages and used minimal force. Prison guards remained on duty inside the facility for about two weeks amid tunnel closures and rebuilding.
