New drug Bretylium Tosylate May Halt Heart Attacks
University of Minnesota researchers report bretylium tosylate given to suspected heart attack patients prevented infarcts in 14 of 33 cases while 38 of 40 untreated patients developed infarcts. In-hospital deaths: one with the drug and seven without. FDA approval expected by August.
