Republicans Rules For 76 To Widen Base
Miami Beach Florida Republicans launch rule changes to broaden the party base for 1976 with a full hearing by the Rules Committee of the Republican National Committee. Testimony from more than 20 witnesses urged new delegate allocation and increased roles for women youth and blacks while conservatives argued the reforms could dilute their influence and Agnews chances. The proposals were drafted by the Delegates and Organization Committee created in 1968.
