Base girds for AFMC cuts at Wright-Patterson

AFMC could cut 20 percent of headquarters spending over five years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base under a DoD directive. About 1,290 people work at the command headquarters there, including 890 civilians and 400 military, with AFMC overseeing roughly $50 billion in acquisition and R&D. Officials caution the plan is in early stages and contingent on Pentagon guidance and budget battles, while sequestration and the Budget Control Act drive ongoing reductions.
