U S B52 bombers carried out their heaviest raids of the war on Vietnam in the 24 hours ending at noon. They conducted 150 strikes dropping over 3000 tons on supply caches staging areas and troop concentrations.
Debbie Emery, a taxi dispatcher, learned her husband Marvin Emery was shot after a fare call led him to a southwest Jacksonville restaurant. He was found slumped over the wheel, the engine racing. $20 and a pocket knife were found nearby, with no sign of struggle. He died at St Vincent's Hospital at 11:35 p.m. Police say a robbery motive is suspected.
