Bomb New York mission never materialized engineer recalls
Tamotsu Takahashi, a 22 year old Japanese airman, was selected for a one way bombing mission against New York in WWII. Plans involved KI77 bombers, high altitude flight, and a crash after dropping the bombs. He notes he is glad the mission never began as the war ended. Takahashi later became a Tokyo bank executive and visited New York last October.
