Picketing ban by judge halts Diamond mills protests
Judge Robert Marrs of Butler County Common Pleas Court issued a temporary injunction barring picketing and related activity at Diamond International Corp facilities after a wildcat strike by 400 to 500 workers. Pickets disappeared by mid morning as Mill No 2 began restarting and the carton plant operated in part. The order mandates arbitration of grievances and police enforcement, aiming to restore operations at the Middletown giant with over 1,000 employees.

Commission considers ending MVCC program and start-up aid
Commission president Donald Schirmer proposes terminating the Miami Valley Children's Center social services contract after repeated tax issues and poor finances. He suggests a $5,000 to $10,000 bridge loan to the awarded agency to cover cash flow, with others weighing in. The plan would offer up to 30 days emergency shelter and counseling, with possible further funding from the Mental Health Board and state. Meanwhile, a sewer contract for Pisgah area is awarded to Concrete Construction Co after bids and scope review.
