Market owner charged in Paraguay fire tragedy

In Asuncion the co owner of a supermarket and four others face manslaughter charges for a blaze that killed 464. A security guard testified he was ordered to lock doors to prevent looting, trapping shoppers. Camper dies from fright at bear sighting

In Sandwish New Hampshire a 13 year old boy visiting a camp for underprivileged children collapsed and died after a frightful bear sighting during a Mount Doublehead hike. Antonio Hansell of Boston and a Camp Hale counselor encountered the bear twice and fled. The boy showed no pulse when found about two hours later and died at a hospital.

Hostages freed in Fallujah raid led by local militants

In Fallujah a local gunmen raid forced out kidnappers and freed four Jordanian truck drivers. The bloodiest Mosul clashes left 14 civilians and eight insurgents dead as authorities imposed a curfew and closed bridges. No coalition forces were harmed.

Pakistan arrests two for terror plot in Gujrat raid

Police in Gujrat say two South African nationals Feroz Ibrahim and Zubair Ismail were captured with a senior al Qaida figure while planning attacks on tourist sites in Pakistan. Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, a Tanzanian with a $25 million bounty, was among those seized. maps of South African cities were found among the seized items.

Coalition vows not to give in to terrorists

The United States led 31 nations in issuing a coordinated pledge to not concede to hostage takers in Iraq. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said the coalition stands united to keep peacekeeping troops from withdrawing. Several allied actions included the Philippines moving to secure hostage release and Turkey halting some supplies after a driver was killed.
