Slow but cheap to operate electric car on city streets
Jim Roney, a retired electronic control technician, built a small battery powered car that runs about 30 to 40 miles per charge and costs roughly one cent per mile. It uses six truck batteries and an electronic control, with about 11 or 12 horsepower, and travels mostly at 27 mph in town. It began last December and has logged about 1,000 miles this spring, with a one hour twelve minutes per mile charging time.
