Butler County Sets Bond Drive Quota at 655000
Foward Barker, county savings bonds chair, announced Butler's quota for the Independence Drive of the Treasury Department will be 655000. The drive runs May 15 through July 4, shorter than last year's period, with a replica of the Liberty Bell touring the state to promote sales. Ohio sales in March fell from 1949 levels due to labor unrest, but organizers expect increased effort to build individual savings for future security.
