Iran Targets of Soviet Propaganda Offensive
A Soviet led propaganda drive against Iran has grown since its start ten weeks ago, using free Azerbaijan radio stations inside the USSR to urge Iranians to revolt. The campaign blames U S intervention for Iran's economic woes, portrays the shah as under American influence, and claims Iran's government is corrupt and should fall. Washington worries over the impact and a U S Mission may be sent to assess aid needs.
