The Becket Paper Co of Hamilton failed in its bid to acquire the bankrupt Parker-Young Company of Lincoln NH. At a federal hearing in Passaic NJ another firm offered more for the troubled firm, according to reports.
The Youth Council of the local NAACP chapter will sponsor a talent show Friday at 8 30 p m at Booker T Washington School. Talent from Middletown and nearby communities will be featured.
Notice announces C E Burke, of Middletown Ohio, named administrator of Belle Hill estate with four month claims period, dated April 12 1950. Other notices include Philip Chambers civil petition in Butler County case 65128 and J Weikal estate executor Og Yeaby Barnite Bank & Trust Co with claims deadline May 3 1950.
Dayton AP report quotes Earl Nietert of the Ohio Liquor Department urging tavernkeepers to respect their liquor permit as a privilege granted by the people. He warns that loss of the permit is possible if the public trust is not upheld, noting ongoing dry forces and the public scrutiny facing the industry.

Police report multiple small incidents including furs returned to Lavina Clark after theft claim. Frank Beard was charged with disorderly conduct after a 1500 Garfield St arrest. Wendell Petry’s car hit a light standard and curb at Verity Pkwy McKinley yard. Clarence Looney lost control at Lincoln St and Verity Pkwy hitting a utility pole with no damage.
Clarence McDowell, 60, of Clark County, was fatally struck by a car driven by Robert J. Warner, 31, of New Carlisle. Police reported Warner was not held. The crash occurred last night, findings indicate McDowell was injured fatally.
Two Middletown High School students, Mike Holland and George Bach, spoke at the Co-Operative Club meeting in Manchester Hotel last night. Holland urged attention to culture amid civic concern, citing low attendance at concerts and theater. Bach discussed student-adult relations and noted about 250 graduates in Middletown will seek jobs. A safety patrol event is planned for May 23, with a five member committee, and a joint meeting with Hamilton Co-Operative Club is set for May 2 with Trenton High School entertainment.
Former Middletown resident Staff Sergeant Emma C. Ratliff has been named Airman Of The Week at Wiesbaden Military Post in Germany. A member of the 2nd WAF Squadron since 1948, she serves as personal affairs consultant at USAFE Headquarters. Her husband, First Sergeant James D. Ratliff, also serves in Wiesbaden.
Mr and Mrs Homer Getz and family of Middletown spent Sunday afternoon with Mr and Mrs Fonce Marts. Mr and Mrs John Brelsford visited Mr and Mrs John Jacquart in Trenton. Mrs Elenor Schwab is spending a few days in Dayton.
Frank M. Quinn denied charges of improper campaign conduct as baseless and sensational. He said he has not been notified of a Board of Elections hearing and rejected accusations of using state employees or cars, kickbacks, or ordered posters in motor vehicle offices. He claimed his campaign spending was minimal and refuted the accusations by rival John J. Gallagher.
The statement alleges Elder deposited a single check of twenty five dollars for an individual in his ward while Quinn was unsure if the payment should go to a specific ward resident. The transcript notes a forty two dollar amount and the involvement of Sled in the transaction.
Paul J. O Rourke 47 of Kenton died yesterday in a two track accident eight miles east of Lima. Authorities reported the incident near Lima while investigating the crash and notifying relatives.
Judge Arthur Hooper, reassigned to Muskingum County, postponed disbarment proceedings yesterday against Thomas A. in a case linked to a Columbus conviction last November for urging clients to supply false Columbus addresses to speed divorce actions.
Judge Hooper postponed the case after Joseph's attorney Paul Herebert of Columbus failed to appear in court yesterday, delaying proceedings.
