Wheelchair Access Expands to Lincoln Memorial
Jim Jeffer, head of the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board, helps the Lincoln Memorial open to wheelchairs. Renovations costing nearly 1 million dollars include a new ramp, restrooms, and an elevator. The project, part of broader access upgrades to the Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument, aims to welcome about 3 million handicapped visitors during the Bicentennial year.
