Moscow AP The Soviet press says Marshal Grechko aged 72 and a Politburo member died suddenly. Cause not announced though informants cited defense ministry issues. Four days earlier Warsaw commander Gen M Shtemenko also died.
In Dar es Salaam Henry Kissinger said the United States will use political and economic tools to influence southern Africa and will not provide military aid to nationalist movements. He urged non African powers to stay out of Rhodesia and Namibia conflicts to avoid dividing Africa.
