Artificial Heart May Be Reality Within 10 Years
Two heart transplant surgeons predict a permanent artificial heart with a power pack could be developed within about a decade. Dr. Denton Cooley of Houston cautioned it may take longer, while Dr. William Hall forecast a five year horizon for a portable powered device. The comments came after Cooley implanted a temporary mechanical heart in Haskell Karp, who died days later.

Suit Filed Over Blue Ball Church Explosion Kills Pastor
The widow Lois Farley Dailey filed a $650,000 damage suit in Butler County Common Pleas Court seeking damages after a gas furnace explosion in the basement of the Blue Ball Presbyterian Church killed the pastor on November 21, 1967 in Blue Ball. The suit names the church and related parties seeking compensation for the minister's death and related losses.
