Franklin tutor program grows from one request
Franklin school psychologist June Gilmore asked Miami University Middletown for one education major tutor and created a broader program. Sixty students from the campus now tutor in classrooms, hallways and foyers, with tutors logging 1 to 3 hours weekly.

Young Thief Loses On Both Tries
Boston police say 19 year old Edward Burke attempted to steal a topcoat, first by fleeing and then by punching patrolman Donald L. Murray. Murray, who ran the B A A Marathon, caught Burke and knocked him out with a single punch. Burke was charged with larceny of the coat.

No Fines This Week At Middletown Library
Middletown Public Library reports about 75 to 100 overdue books returned this week including one from the book mobile that was due exactly 10 years ago. No fines are being collected this week and patrons are urged to return books due last December and earlier in January February and March. The book drop is open 24 hours to ease returns as part of National Library Week with a Be All You Can Be Read window display at the Central Store.
