John Buma of Paterson New Jersey survived a rare heart surgery at Passaic General Hospital after Dr Dryden Morse used a Soviet inspired bypass technique. Morse recalled a six months old article in the American Journal of Thoracic Surgery detailing dog and human cases and proceeded with the operation that linked veins to a heart artery. Buma, 17, had a hole in a heart wall and a weakened area. after the procedure he is expected to go home next week with restrictions briefly in place.
Four year old Eric Peugeot, heir to a French car empire, was found unharmed crying on a sidewalk near his home after being kidnapped from a St. Cloud club playground. His father Roland Peugeot reportedly paid a ransom. the boy said two men left him near the bar where Lucien Bonnet found him and alerted police.
The French News Agency said two men and a woman were under arrest in Paris in the Eric Peugeot case, naming the trio. National police headquarters quickly denied the report, offering no further explanation.

State police identified Carl Perry Nickell a 42 year old Willis resident and night attendant at H Cornnick Oil Co as the victim found burned beside a flaming car along the Willow Run Expressway near Willow Run Airport. Three witnesses Dale Danson Joseph Danson and Richard Gano reported the scene. Nickell had endured at least four holdups in the 18 months he worked at the station.
