A cloud of bromine gas prompted a predawn evacuation of Dwight, Illinois as 200 canisters leaked during a truck ride from Memphis to Chicago. The gas dissipated by midday, residents returned home, and investigators said the threat ended with a chemical washdown and overnight monitoring. Police reported no serious injuries.
