Elk Have Winter Home On The Wyoming Range
In Jackson Hole Wyoming Don Redfearn administers the National Elk Refuge overseeing about 24000 acres where up to 11500 elk winter. Federal crews feed the herd with 2500 tons of hay from nearby park meadows aided by state Fish and Game and the refuge. Moose bighorn sheep and other wildlife also winter in the area as storms push animals to lower elevations.
