The IRS will mail May 9 tax rebate checks to about 78 million taxpayers, with all sent by June 30. Officials say the economy would recover even without rebates, with experts predicting a bottoming out in weeks and a moderate, potentially vigorous recovery in the second half of 1975.
The South Vietnamese Senate unanimously urged new leadership after Thieu’s government ceded five central cities to Communist forces. Cities Tuy Hoa Phan Rang Phan Thiet Dalat Cam Ranh fell with minimal resistance as Thieu meets cabinet and U.S. officials amid accusations of corruption and reliance on military solutions.
