Mr. A. B. Deming is general agent for the Middletown Evening Press in Middletown and will handle village delivery and collections. Collections occur every two weeks. Single copies cost four cents and are sold at Deming's, Morgan & Sloat's, and Vail's Bookstore.
Henry M MecQuoid outlines proposed changes to the Middle Town village charter. The plan merges offices, creates a unified clerk and water system oversight, adds a police force, and sets new salaries and duties. The push aims to reduce costs and make criminal administration self sustaining.
Mr Madden carried the amended Charter bill through the Senate with no opposition. The act amends and consolidates the village charter of Middletown as passed March 31, 1866, and now goes to the Assembly for possible changes before the forthcoming election.
