Boy Friend Freed in Murder of Woman

Trial ends with acquittal of Will Coney, 33, in Rich mond Heights murder of Maxine Johnson, 25. Circumstantial evidence highlighted, including a Bible page marked with Johnson’s name. Johnson had previously obtained a peace warrant against Coney. witnesses described three gunshots with one hit. Johnson survived by husband Elijah, six children, father Calvin Young, and other relatives.

Little Rock Council Orders Arrests Of NAACP Leaders

In a heated move eight of ten aldermen approved a revised ordinance demanding NAACP officers file reports with the city clerk. C Bates president and C Crenshaw vice president were ordered arrested when the group failed to comply. Crenshaw is believed in Little Rock. Bates is on a speaking tour in New York.

Klan member gets 20 years in mayhem case

In Birmingham, 31 year old Joe P. Pritchett was convicted by a Circuit Court jury of mayhem for the Ku Klux Klan mutilation of J. E. Aaron, 33, last September. The judge imposed the maximum sentence of 20 years. Prosecution says Pritchett identified Floyd as Klan captain. Floyd performed the mutilation with a razor blade.

Nine youths arrested after school bomb scare at Dorsey Jr High

Five boys aged 13 to 15, students at Dorsey Jr High School, were arrested by Dade County Road Patrol after a noon hour bomb scare. A traced call led investigators to the youths, later placed in Youth Hall awaiting disposition. Names are withheld due to age.

Dentists Win Certificates at Miami Seminar

Dentists earned certificates after a two day Miami seminar on dentistry for the handicapped sponsored by United Cerebral Palsy and the Florida Society of Dentistry for Children. Over 60 dentists from 20 Florida cities attended this first program of its kind outside New York City. Three Columbia University consultants Jerry Adelson Seymour Koster and Janice Schreiber led the course to advance dental care for persons with disabilities and to promote prevention and treatment programs in the dental profession.

Aldrich Re-elected President of Florida Grand Masters Council

Ill. E F Aldrich of Orlando has been re elected president of the Past Masters and District Deputy of the Grand Masters Council of Florida. The council is chartered by Grand Lodge of the state and Aldrich serves as thousand president while heading Globe Construction Co in Miami. Fletcher L Taylor elected president of the advisory board of the Post Masters and District Deputy Grand Masters Council and will its authority.

Man Surrenders After Killing Friend in Dade County

Earl Bryant, 41, of 1508 NW 6th Court, is in Dade County jail on a second degree murder charge for the shooting death of George Crouch, 36, at the same address. Bond set at 1500. Bryant claimed self defense after Crouch stabbed him with an ice pick. A coroner's inquest is planned for next Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Justice Francis J. Christie's Court.
