Man Confesses Slaying Woman

Charlie Wheeler a Fisk librarian and Guggenheim fellow confessed to police that he shot and killed Louise Williams in a car last Thursday night and left her body there with her 3 year old son. He was arrested after tips from another man and held without bond as coroner inquest set for June 28.

Freed and life terms in Trenton Six murder case

Four men were freed and two were sentenced to life for the Trenton Six murder case. The jury, all White, acquitted Mc Kinley Forrest, Jack McKenzie, Horace Wilson, and James H. Thorpe after six minutes of deliberation over nearly 20 hours of talks. The trials centered on the Jan 27, 1948, killing of William Horner and the assault of Elizabeth McGuire.
