Dodgers Trade Robbie to Giants for 30000 and pitcher

Jackie Robinson, aged 37, was sent from Brooklyn to the New York Giants for $30,000 and pitcher Dick Littlefield in a surprise deal. Giants owner Horace Stoneham praised Robinson, while Robinson said he will wait until January 10 to decide if he can join the club. Robinson hit .275 last season with a lifetime .309 average.

Smith Faces Fourth Dope Charge In Miami Case

Willis Smith, 38 year old rooming house operator known as the big man in Miami narcotics, was arrested Thursday on a pos session charge. He surrendered at the U S marshall's office with bondsman Murray Goldberg posting $10,000 bond for a preliminary hearing December 19 before a U S Commissioner.

Davis abandons car as narcotics agents close in at parade

Roger E. Davis reportedly fled his vehicle during the Orange Blossom Classic parade as narcotics agents approached. Smith faces charges of possession of 146 marijuana cigarettes and additional marijuana.

Coleman Pleads Guilty in Rape Case for Life Sentence

Goulds man Jesse C. Coleman admitted raping the niece of a county official and, after a tense trial, was sentenced to life with hard labor in Raiford. He had implicated a Negro deputy during cross examination, then pleaded guilty with defense and father present, leading to the judge's ruling. The case ties to two attempted assaults at Dixie Highway motels.
