Hand to Hand Battle Near Dexter Ends in Death
Dexter Missouri March 24 a pitched battle eight miles north between Charles Hendrickson and a gang of thieves led by him and Sheriff Evans with a posse. After ten minutes and about 100 shots Hendrickson was killed with a head wound. His daughter, an active participant, was perhaps fatally wounded in the left breast. Deputy B Booth was slightly wounded. Hendrickson and his gang, fugitives from Franklin county, are charged with several robberies and have been in hiding in this area.
