The city election produced Democratic wins in the city at large with Mena. third ward aldermen MacMahon and Clayton elected. Second ward tied between Ed Garrett Citizens and Jeff Upshaw Democrat. election commissioners declared no election pending recount. Novelty Ball entertains Mena Chapter Eastern Star
The Mena Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star held a successful evening at the Masonic hall with music recitations and a novelty ball. Guests received carpet rag balls revealing trinkets or candy and an orchestra provided dancing. Highlights included duets by Mrs. Pugh and Mrs. Cramer and a recitation by Miss Emma Savage. Net receipts totaled $30.

Blaze at Central Hotel In De Queen Street Alarmed Town
A fire started in the attic over the kitchen at the Central Hotel on De Queen Street Monday night at 9 30. The Hook and Ladder company quickly responded preventing major damage. Proprieter J Masters suspects arson as the fire began ten feet from any flue. The adjacent wooden buildings risked rapid spread, making firefighting crucial.
