Mr and Mrs Fikse of Sioux Center were in town Friday. Mrs H Duven and Miss Mae visited LeMara Friday. Ben Guider traveled to Sioux City for examination Monday. Mrs M Beyers hosted several ladies at her home Thursday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Gerrit Grootenhuis of Orange City visited G Kots on Thursday. Mrs G Kots remains under a physician care with little improvement. Mr and Mrs C Duven hosted a number of friends Thursday evening.

Red Cross Day At Maurice Raises Big Private Donation

A Maurice Red Cross sale on March 16 drew crowds and large bids from farmers and town residents. Auctions, forged by Fitzpatrick and Tyler, raised funds for Liberty bonds and relief, with items such as a Calf and eggs bringing substantial totals and a total village effort tally approaching two thousand dollars.

Bert Den Ouden Becomes A Citizen Of The U S

Last Saturday March 16 Bert Den Ouden a farmer north west of Maurice renounced allegiance to the Queen of Holland and swore allegiance to the United States. He was entrusted with the ballot and praised for his support of Liberty Loans the army Y M C A and the Red Cross. He is regarded as a conscientious citizen and strong believer in American ideals.
