Cancer survivor designs education program
Larry Baran, a former Homewood-Flossmoor High School special education teacher, creates a cancer education project using student made fabric boutonnieres. The program, aimed at helping children understand cancer and comforting survivors, has been requested by teachers across the county and even California. Baran plans to present at town meetings about the Washington march and continues volunteer work while battling a leg cancer that interrupted his teaching career.
